New Indiana operation will help defense manufacturers accelerate rapid prototyping, production scale-up and domestic manufacturing capacity
SPINNER North America announced plans to establish an advanced manufacturing facility at the ACMI – American Center for Manufacturing and Innovation’s National Security Industrial Hub in Bloomfield, Indiana.
The SPINNER facility will provide advanced CNC machining technology, applications engineering, manufacturing process development, automation expertise, workforce training and production support to companies and mission partners operating throughout the campus.
ACMI recently announced that growing demand from defense manufacturers and technology companies has driven an expansion of the National Security Industrial Hub from approximately 1,100 acres to more than 1,500 acres. Located adjacent to Crane Army Ammunition Activity and Naval Surface Warfare Center–Crane Division, the campus is being developed as an integrated manufacturing ecosystem where emerging and established defense companies can move critical technologies from research and prototyping into sustained production.

SPINNER’s planned operation will support manufacturers working across defense, aerospace, propulsion, munitions and other national-security applications. Working alongside campus tenants and government mission partners, SPINNER will help develop production-ready machining processes for complex and mission-critical components.
Capabilities planned for the facility include:
- Advanced CNC turning, milling, five-axis machining and multitasking technology
- Manufacturing process development and cycle-time optimization
- Automation, robotic handling and unattended-production solutions
- Prototype-to-production engineering support
- Machine demonstrations, operator instruction and technical training
- Production troubleshooting and ongoing applications support
- Support for domestic supply-chain development and production readiness
The facility will allow manufacturers to evaluate equipment, prove manufacturing processes, develop automation strategies and train personnel within the same ecosystem in which their products are being developed and produced.
“Installing a machine is only one part of building production capacity,” Awad said. “Manufacturers also need proven processes, trained people, reliable automation and engineering support. SPINNER intends to provide that complete manufacturing capability so companies can move from a successful prototype to stable production without losing critical time.”
The Indiana campus is ACMI’s first National Security Industrial Hub and Munitions Campus. Its shared infrastructure model is designed to lower the cost and risk associated with launching or expanding defense manufacturing operations while shortening the path from product development to full-rate production.
SPINNER joins a growing group of advanced manufacturing and aerospace organizations operating at the hub, including iRocket and Prometheus Energetics. The expanding campus is expected to attract additional manufacturers, suppliers, engineering organizations and logistics providers supporting the United States defense industrial base.This week brought major news for U.S. manufacturing — especially for companies in precision machining, defense, and aerospace supply chains.
A new munitions manufacturing campus in southern Indiana was announced as part of a larger effort by the Department of Defense to strengthen America’s industrial base. Backed by ACMI (Advanced Manufacturing Collaboration Initiative), SPINNER along with 16 companies will anchor the new National Security Industrial Hub (NSIH) focused on ammunition production, energetics, defense materials, and critical manufacturing technologies.
